Not so near death experience

Ok, so I’ve never had a true near death experience. But I think sometimes we all have things that happen to us that scare  us enough to put things in perspective. I wouldn’t use the cliché of having “the fear of God put into you”. That is reserved for moments where God Himself allows us to see how mighty and powerful He is. But I definitely had one of those experiences today that made me realize I worry about stupid crap. Driving down Arlington Ave today my car hood suddenly flies open and goes all the way up and smashes my windshield. Seriously, scariest thing that has ever happened to me. Thanks God I wasn’t on the freeway and was able to get over to the side of the road without incident. But suddenly not being able to see when I’m driving 50 MPH could have ended a lot worse. Thankfully I didn’t freak and slam on the brakes or swerve, which could have caused an accident. Yeah, maybe im overreacting and freaking out but it was frightening.

So…. what’s your near death or even not so near death experience??

  1. I was driving about 80, 85 on the 215 on the way home from Fontana, in the far right lane, and I didn’t realize it was an exit only lane until I was like on the off ramp… which has a speed limit of 20 MPH. I hit my brakes to slow down as much as possible, because it was past midnight and super dark, and it really snuck up on me. I spun out in the dirtbowl in the center (I like to say I went drifting ^_~) It was totally by the grace of God that I was okay, too, because that’s the only exit I could’ve spun into the dirt like that; the others, I would’ve gone over the edge of the offramp into a ditch or tipped over and rolled onto the freeway again. Terrifying experience.

  2. It wasn’t the same kind of thing, but I was shaken for a good while. I was on my home from the Pierce and 91 store back in the day when I worked there. It was about 1 am and this truck followed me from the store down Riverwalk to La Sierra. Then down Hole, which is not a normal route for someone to take. They seriously followed me all the way home so we went a couple streets away and sat out in front of another house until he left. I could see the guy in the truck from where I was sitting. He was a regular who had followed me “home”. He also came in the next day while I was working so my boss kicked him out while I hid in the back room.
